Students geared up for Dawg Walk
Mahomet, Ill. – Mahomet-Seymour students in grade K-5 are ready to raise money for the 2016 Dawg Walk.
The M-S PTO talked to students earlier this week about raising money for their school. Each year the M-S PTO uses the money raised at the Dawg Walk for to help elementary schools and for PTO activities, including Reading Incentive Programs, HANDS around the World (a Lincoln Trail program), other school programs and Staff Appreciation.
The elementary schools used the funds for Teacher Stipends, Field Trips and Assemblies, Science and Math Manipulatives (Light Boxes, Magna Tiles), Educational Online Subscriptions (Pebble Go, Tumbleweed, Brain Pop), Chrome Books & iPads (and accessories to use those; carts, cases, chargers, headphones, Bluetooth), playground equipment and musical equipment.
During the 2015-2016 school year the PTO was able to give back over $67,500 directly to the three elementary schools and over $13,500 of support for programs and activities that directly impacted students and teachers; for a total of over $81,000 in support of the students.
The M-S PTO encourages each student to raise a minimum of $50 in donations per child to support this year’s teachers, classrooms, schools and programs. Parents, family members and neighbors can help by making personal donations through their child or by supporting any child who is currently enrolled in K-5th grades.
The PTO is also looking for corporate sponsors. Levels include $3,000, $1,500 and $500 sponsorships.
