Slupski, Bao and Kesavadas pick-up M-S tennis wins

Britta Slupski, at No. 4 singles, accounted for the lone Bulldog victory in M-S’ season-opening dual meet on Monday at Centennial. The Chargers registered an 8-1 triumph.
Slupski was victorious in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2 over Aastha Patel.
In doubles competition, two M-S duos were beaten in third-set tiebreakers.
At No. 2, Patel and Sarah Park teamed up to beat their M-S counterparts, Amalie Fried and Manvika Kohli 3-6, 6-1, 1-8.
At No. 3, Chargers partners Nicole Vozovoy and Yehyun Nam topped Emma Clements and Molly Fried 6-1, 5-7, 10-7.
The M-S singles lineup consisted of Annie Bao (No. 1), Mrinali Kesavadas (No. 2), Amalie Fried (No. 3), Slupski (No. 4), Clements (No. 5) and Kohli (No. 6).
The No. 1 doubles team consisted of Slupski and Kesavadas.
On Tuesday, the Bulldogs dropped an 8-1 decision to Champaign Central, also on the Lindsay Courts.
The M-S win was secured by the No. 1 doubles unit of Bao and Kesavadas 6-1, 6-0.

M-S (0-2) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 19) at Mattoon.
