Shoaf posts top score for Bulldogs, Girls’ golf places second at Monticello

Junior Curtis Shoaf on Tuesday became the fourth Bulldog to post the team’s best score in a meet this season.
Shoaf tied for fifth overall, with a 45, in a dual meet against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at Lake of the Woods.
GCMS topped the Bulldogs 158-189.
Ryan Long and Jacob Louis each carded 47s for M-S.
Other team leaders were Jackson White (50), Jackson Glenn (51) and Erik Christianson (58).
In the JV match, M-S defeated GCMS 187-208. Medalist Zach Courson shot a 44 for the Bulldogs.
On Wednesday, the Bulldogs finished second in a four-school meet at Savoy.
Three M-S players carded identical 45s and tied for third individually: Jameson Drinkwalter, Grant Harvey and Sam Mitchaner. Overall, there were 21 competitors.
Other Bulldog scores were a 51 by Louis, a 52 by Brandon Collins and a 53 by Courson.
Centennial was the meet winner (180), followed by M-S (186) and Monticello (188). St. Thomas More did not have enough players for a team score.
M-S returns to action on Friday at the Danville Viking Invitational at Turtle Run.
Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ golf
Two Bulldogs finished among the top four individually on Wednesday as M-S captured second place in a three-school meet at Monticello.
Ainsley Winters placed third with a 45 and Hannah Cassel was fourth with a 50.
Teammate Sylvia Byron was seventh with a 55.
Monticello won the meet with a 193 composite. M-S followed at 207. Tuscola was third (237).
Other Bulldog scorers were: Rachel Burke (57), Cecilia Abramson (60) and Gabriela Davis (71).
M-S returns to action on Tuesday at Lake of the Woods in the Champaign County/Piatt County Invitational.
