Seymour announces Fourth of July parade and firework plan

Seymour has announced that some of the traditional Fourth of July celebrations will resume in 2021.

The Fourth of July parade will march through Seymour on July 3 at 10 a.m. The carnival at Seymour United Methodist Church will not take place this year, though. Neither will the annual car show.

“It takes a lot of volunteers, planning, and money to make these things happen. Unfortunately like everything else, COVID had a huge hand in this,” the Seymour Cia wrote on Facebook.

“Watch for anyone carrying a fireman’s boot during the parade or donation barrels near the fire station Saturday evening if you would like to pitch in and donate for next years events!!! If we can raise enough money, we may be able to at least bring back a band to play on Main Street through the afternoon!”

Donations did come through, though, for the Seymour firework show. Beginning at dusk near the Seymour Fire Department, spectators can witness a firework show like no other.

These events are free and open to the public.
