Senior Savannah Orgeron, the scoring leader for the 24-10 Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team was voted as one of the top 35 players in the state in Class 3A on Friday (March 3).
Members of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association selected All-State teams for each of the four classifications for basketball in the state.
In Class 3A, there was a 10-player first team, an 11-player second team and a 14-player third team.
The 5-foot-10 Orgeron, an Illinois Central College recruit, was a third-team pick.
She competed in the Apollo Conference this season where five of the seven league schools won at least 20 games and conference titlist Lincoln lost in the 3A state championship game.
Orgeron averaged 17.3 points per game for the Bulldogs, sinking a team-best 70 three-pointers. She also had the lowest number of turnovers (35) among the M-S starters. Orgeron played in all 34 games and scored in double figures in 32 of them. She eclipsed the 20-point mark in 12 contests.
