The Upper Sangamon River Conservancy (USRC) invites the public to a day of learning and outdoor activities at the Sangamon River Showcase on May 11th, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Izaak Walton Cabin on 679 Senna Drive.

This engaging event is designed to enlighten attendees about the Sangamon River watershed through interactive and educational displays. Features include a rain simulator, a floodplain table, an erosion table, and exhibits of freshwater mussel shells and preserved aquatic invertebrates. For those eager to see live specimens, there will be a display of live fish.

A standout attraction for outdoor enthusiasts and families will be the opportunity to try canoeing or kayaking on the tranquil Sangamon River. This hands-on experience is suited for beginners and experienced paddlers alike and aims to foster a deeper connection with the local waterways.
