Four Mahomet residents talk about school safety during M-S Board Meeting
While the Mahomet-Seymour School Board scheduled a closed study session to discuss personnel issues and pending litigation, four Mahomet-Seymour Community members spoke about school safety.
Three Mahomet-Seymour juniors, Jordyn Tietz, Trinity Reeves and Amy Schue, talked about classroom preparedness, mental health illnesses and purchasing the JustinKase door system, that secures a door in the event of an invasion.
Mahomet resident Colleen Schultz also talked about school safety in light of hiring professionals who will connect with all students, those who are outgoing and those who may be isolated. While Schultz pointed towards several Lincoln Trail educators, such as Third Grade Teachers Kortny Cox and Kim Johnson, Fifth Grade Teacher Ben Herriott and Mahomet-Seymour High School Drama Director Brittany Immormino.
Schultz also praised Lincoln Trail Assistant Principal Courtney Porter, who is in the process of being involuntarily reassigned to a classroom teacher.
