Lace up your running shoes and prepare for the 28th Annual Run Mahomet, scheduled for August 5, 2023. This highly anticipated event is a thrilling athletic challenge and an opportunity to support the Mahomet Area Youth Club (MAYC) and its vital summer and after-school programming. With various race options and virtual participation available, this event aims to engage runners of all levels while positively impacting the local community.
The Run Mahomet event features three main races: the 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon. Additionally, virtual options are available for all three races, allowing participants to join remotely and contribute to the cause from anywhere in the world. The race courses are USATF Certified and known for being flat and fast, promising an exhilarating experience for both seasoned athletes and beginners.
In-person runners will enjoy the convenience of chip timing provided by It’s Racetime, ensuring accurate and reliable tracking of their race performance. Adhering to Champaign County Covid Guidelines, organizers have implemented strict safety measures to prioritize the well-being of all participants. Virtual runners will not be included in the official timed results but are encouraged to submit their times for final rankings. Finisher medals and shirts will be mailed to all virtual participants.
The registration fees for each race category are as follows:
- 5K: $45 ($35 before July 15, 2023)
- 10K: $55 ($45 before July 15, 2023)
- Half Marathon: $75 ($65 before July 15, 2023)
- Virtual 5K: $40 ($35 before July 15, 2023)
- Virtual 10K: $50 ($45 before July 15, 2023)
- Virtual Half Marathon: $70 ($65 before July 15, 2023)
Those interested in participating are encouraged to register early to secure lower registration fees before the price increase. In-person runners who sign up by July 15th will also receive a guaranteed technical tee shirt.
All proceeds from Run Mahomet benefit the Mahomet Area Youth Club.
