Roberts was top finisher for Bulldogs at Conference match

Junior Keaton Roberts was the top Mahomet-Seymour placer on Saturday (May 13) at the Apollo Conference boys’ tennis tournament in Mattoon.
He finished fourth in No. 5 singles.
Two teammates compiled 2-1 records at conference and finished fifth: junior Jacob Atteberry (No. 1) and sophomore Caleb Bushue (No. 6).
The other three M-S entries in singles were all 1-2 and placed sixth: junior Quade Bristle (No. 2), junior Jack Louis (No. 3) and sophomore Lucas Raquel (No. 4).
In doubles, all three M-S entries compiled 1-2 records in the two-day meet and ended in sixth place.
Atteberry and Mitchell were the No. 1 team. Louis and Raquel were at No. 2. The No. 3 team featured Bushue and freshman Aden Bergman.
On Wednesday (May 10), the Bulldogs dropped a 6-3 decision to Charleston at Illini Grove Tennis Courts.
The Bulldogs winners in singles were Mitchell (No. 4) in straight sets and Bushue (No. 5), also in straight sets.
In doubles, the No. 2 duo of Louis and Raquel was victorious, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8.
M-S (2-4 in dual meets) will return to action on Friday (May 19) in the 10-team Danville Class 1A Sectional Tournament.
