Reis Claybrooke Shines with Playoff Win as Mahomet-Seymour Boys’ Golf Team Takes 2nd in Season Opener

Senior Reis Claybrooke fired a 70 and won medalist honors in a playoff on Monday (Aug. 19) as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ golf team opened the season by placing second in the 13-school Urbana Tiger Kickoff Classic at Savoy.
Mount Zion garnered team honors with a 297. M-S was next with a composite score of 312.
Bulldog teammates Kelton Hennesy and Cole Thrasher each carded 80s and tied for 10th place in the 81-person event.
Jackson Bohm (82), Jacob Schoudel (83) and Carter Henrikson (90) were the other M-S participants.
On Tuesday (Aug.20), Schoudel shot a career-best 71 at the Weibring Golf Course, in Normal, as M-S (306 composite) placed sixth in the 23-team Redbird/Raider Classic.
Other team leaders were Hennesy (75), Thrasher (79), Bohm (81), Henrikson (81) and Claybrooke (83).
In a junior varsity match on Tuesday (Aug. 20) at Lake of the Woods, the Bulldogs handled Tuscola, 174-201.
Miles Rasche (40) won medalist honors. Other scorers for the Bulldogs were Zach Blumenshine (42), Kirby Savener (45), Tyler Mackey (47), Todd Laughton (51) and Brayden Rivest (57).
The M-S varsity squad returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 29) at Ironhorse Golf Club, in Tuscola, in a quadrangular meet.
