Reis Claybrooke Sets Tournament Record at Central Illinois Junior Golf Tour Event

Mahomet-Seymour senior-to-be Reis Claybrooke broke the tournament record in the Central Illinois Junior Golf Tour event at Lake of the Woods on Thursday (July 25).

Claybrooke shot an 18-hole score of 66 to win the boys’ 16-17 age division. Forrest Benson tied the previous record of 70 and was the runner-up. Placing third was Cole Thrasher (75).

There were 18 finishers in the top age division for boys.

Winning the girls’ 16-17 division with an 81 was upcoming M-S junior Brooke Hartman. Finishing second in the 18-hole event was Amelia Birge (90) and she was followed by Sabrina Babcock (98).

Winning the boys’ 14-15 age division by five strokes was Hunter Benson (73). Next in the 18-hole event were Drew Peters (78) and Max Clausen (80).

There were only two competitors in the girls’ 14-15 age division and they needed a one-hole playoff to determine the winner.

Finishing the 18-hole course tied at 84 were Gianna Frisbie and Makenna Peterka. Frisbie emerged from the playoff as the age bracket champion.

Hayden Hogg prevailed in the boys’ 12-13 age division. His nine-hole score was 39. He edged Dawson Martin (40) and Paxten Heinold (41).

In the girls’ 12-13 age bracket, top honors went to Kinley Mills (38) in their nine-hole tournament. Following her were Madisyn Frank (49) and Alexa Wenzel (64).

Placing first in the boys’ 10-11 age division on the 18-hole par 3 course was Levi Risley (63).  Following him were Landon Boerma and Brantley Higham, each with 67s.

Savannah Bednar was the lone finisher in the girls’ 10-11 age division. She carded an 18-hole score of 109 on the par-3 course.

Taking top honors in the boys’ 8-9 age division was Ryne Sebestik with a nine-hole total of 37 on the par-3 course. Ending one stroke behind him were Zion Heinold and Waylon Miethe.

Lucy Shambaugh took first in the girls’ 8-9 age division with a 45 on the nine-hole par-3 course. Trailing her were Ashlyn Moberly (57) and Iris Acree (58).

In the boys’ 5-7 age division, Charlie Arends carded a 17 for five holes on the par 3 course to claim first. Tying for second at 22 were Benji Sebestik and Jett Gude.
