The Mahomet Chamber of Commerce has announced its first-ever virtual Queen of Hearts Raffle, a game of chance made popular with jackpot prizes awarded in community fundraisers.
The weekly raffle will be held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. beginning Feb. 17 on the Visit Mahomet Facebook page.
Tickets, which will go on sale beginning Feb. 5., and can be purchased for $5 each or $25 for 6 on visitmahomet.com. Ticket sales will be closed at 12:00 pm (noon) CST on the Monday prior to each drawing.
The lucky winner who selects the envelope containing the hidden Queen of Hearts playing card will win 50 percent of the total progressive jackpot, which rolls over week after week. Fifty percent of the total proceeds collected from ticket sales will be retained by the Mahomet Chamber of Commerce to be distributed to local not-for-profit organizations or community- based projects and the remaining balance shall be placed in the jackpot
Participants must be 18 years old to play.
