Haus of Karma, a thrift store located in Urbana, is seeking to diversify, inform, and entertain the town of Mahomet with their first ever Pop-Up Art Festival.
The festival, which will take place at the Tin Cup RV Park on Saturday, August 6th, is expected to be both entertaining as well as insightful.
Local creator, Amanda Wallace, along with Haus of Karma’s Ellerie Ambrose have been hard at work planning the event.
From 12-6 p.m. the public is invited to talk with local small business, artisans, and even holistic practitioners. By bringing together different creators, Wallace hopes to not only support their endeavors, but also to share their passions with the community.
Wallace explains how one main goal of the festival is to “[grow] our community so we can diversify the culture here in mahomet.”
Attendees can expect to see a variety of artists and creators including yoga gurus and even sound healing practitioners – including Wallace herself.
Sound healing is a holistic approach that uses both music and vibrations to improve emotional and physical well-being.
The festival itself seeks to feature creations and art of all sorts, such as paintings, reimagined clothes, and even live music from nationally and local artists.
“I am really excited because we have a couple of musicians coming out,” Wallace shared.
There will be performances from a number of people including national Blues musician Jesse Cotton Stone, and Mahomet natives Kyle Plue and Cody Fry.
The event is free and open to the public.
“The land is so special and I want to be able to share that with people,” Wallace added. “I want people to have a place to come to to just relax, be creative and get inspired and just connect with not only nature but with each other.”
That being said, make sure to grab some friends and family and head to the Tin Cup RV Park on Saturday to meet new people, enjoy live music, and appreciate some of the great things the community has to offer.
