Two Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School athletes were individual winners on Friday (April 30) in a four-school boys’ track and field meet in Mahomet.
Ethan Peterka won the 1,600-meter race and Colin Tobias won the pole vault in a meet that also included Danville North Ridge, Tuscola East Prairie and Champaign St. Matthew.
“We saw a number of athletes improve on their own personal records,” coach Bobby Boykin said.
On Saturday (May 1), the Bulldogs competed in the Mount Zion Invitational.
In the team standings, the M-S eighth-graders placed fifth while the seventh-grade team secured a fourth-place finish.
M-S athletes went 1-2 in the pole vault with Ty Clark winning the event and Seth Christensen taking second.
Clark was the runner-up in the high jump.
Other second-place finishers for M-S were Ian Dobrucki (hurdles) and the seventh-grade 800-meter relay unit of Justus Vrona, Landen Dowers, Parker Wilkins and Jonathan Franklin.
“This was a very good meet for us as a team, as we had the opportunity to go against some of the teams that will be in our sectional (on May 15) this year,” Boykin said.
M-S will return to action on Thursday (May 6) at St. Joseph.
