Two Bulldogs were individual champions on Saturday, helping M-S capture team honors by more than 20 points in its own 16-team Bulldog Invitational.
The team title was the first of the season for the young Bulldogs.
Taking first individually for M-S were Tallan Pawlak at 95 pounds and Peyton Cox at 112 pounds.
Overall, the Bulldogs had 11 placers. The other Bulldog reaching the finals was Deandre Hughey at 135 pounds.
Other Bulldog placers were Camden Heinold (third at 85 pounds), Jayvon Irwin (third at 126 pounds), Justus Vrona (fourth at 75 pounds), Lucas Altstetter (fifth at 80 pounds), Colton McClure (fifth at 70 pounds), Luke Johnson (fifth at 155 pounds), Gage Decker (sixth at 105 pounds) and Collin Woodward (sixth at 185 pounds).
On Tuesday, M-S dropped a 44-43 dual-meet decision to Normal Chiddix.
The Bulldogs were ahead 43-38 with one match remaining, but without a heavyweight competitor, forfeited the final class and lost a one-point decision.
“We had some kids step in and fill some holes and they did a great job,” Heinold said. “Preston Sriver, Ryker Six, Kaleb Collins, Jacob Norman and Henry Wagner all had to step in and wrestle in place of the varsity wrestler and did a great job.”
M-S registered pins by Vrona, Cox, Norman, Johnson and Frankie Tomaszewski.
Izzy Leyhe won by a major decision.
Heinold, Irwin and Hughey won by regular decisions
