Paula Martin celebrates 100 years today
Today is a big day for Paula Martin. She was greeted by friends and staff at the Bridle Brook community with breakfast and a song for her 100th birthday this morning. Martin will also celebrate with her family at Bridle Brook tonight.
Bridle Brook staff member Revae Applegate said that Martin brings tenderness to the Alzheimer’s and Dementia unit at Bridle Brook. Martin is known for her kind spirit, which she displays for her friends who need help.
The Bridle Brook community made a laminated book titled “100 Things We Love About Paula” as a gift. They used words such as giggly, lovable, huggable, small but strong and pleasant to describe her. Martin also received birthday cards from students at First School Tuesday. Applegate said she is always excited to see visitors, children and dogs.
But Martin has also left a legacy of fashion at Bridle Brook.
“Her fashion sense is ageless,” Applegate said. She’s still wearing the clothes that she probably had in the 1970’s, but they are perfectly tailored. They look like they came from the department store yesterday.”
