IDOT to continue painting bridges on I-74

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that painting of the bridges that carry Lindsey Road and Duncan Road over Interstate 74 resumes Monday, Aug. 26.

The painting will require nightly lane closures on westbound I-74 between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m., with one lane open at all times. Work is expected to last approximately four to five weeks.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
