Olson, Clements and Hennesy capture top spots at Apollo Conference meet

Mahomet-Seymour had three of the top six placers on Monday (Sept. 18) and captured runner-up honors in the Apollo Conference boys’ golf tournament at Charleston.
Leif Olson finished in third place individually. He had rounds of 38 and 38 for a 76. He wound up one shot behind the co-medalists in the 33-player field.
Parker Clements matched his season-best with a 77 and tied for fourth. He had rounds of 34 and 43.
Kelton Hennesy shot his fifth consecutive round in the 70s and ended in sixth. He had rounds of 38 and 40 for 78.
Other M-S competitors were Reese Claybrooke (42 and 42 for an 84), Jacob Schoudel (41 and 44 for an 85) and Cole Thrasher (42 and 48 for a 90).
Meet champion Charleston fired a team composite of 308. M-S (315) was second, followed by Mount Zion (323), Mattoon (325) and Efingham (336). Taylorville did not have enough golfers to be scored as a team.
M-S (7-0 in duals and triangulars) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 21) in the Pontiac Scramble.
