The rhythms of Louisiana are coming to central Illinois as the Occasional Cajun Band headlines the Summer Concert Series at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve on July 26. The free, family-friendly performance will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the Peninsula.
Known for their energetic interpretations of traditional Cajun, Creole, and Zydeco music, the Urbana-based Occasional Cajun Band has built a devoted local following. Their performances blend spirited accordion, fiddle, and guitar with infectious rhythms, inviting audiences of all ages to dance, clap, and experience the vibrant culture of Louisiana.
The concert is a highlight of the annual Summer Splash! event, a collaboration between the Champaign County Forest Preserve District and the Upper Sangamon River Conservancy. Alongside the music, families can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities and explore the natural beauty of Lake of the Woods, making it a perfect way to spend a summer Saturday.
