Normal University defeats Mahomet-Seymour in Regional Tournament

Normal University High ousted the Mahomet-Seymour volleyball team on Thursday (Oct. 26) in the championship match of the IHSA Class 3A regional tournament at U-High.
The Pioneers (34-3) needed three sets to subdue the Bulldogs, 25-20, 24-26, 25-13. The loss snapped a 12-match M-S winning streak.
M-S played eight three-set matches this season and won four of them.
In her final high school match, senior Avery Allen recorded a double-double with 14 digs and 12 kills. She also had two service aces.
Other Bulldog leaders were sophomore Lily Bosworth (eight kills and two blocks), junior Ellie Barker (seven kills and one block) and junior Ellie Dallas (13 assists and six digs).
M-S finishes the season with an overall record of 32-5.
Besides Allen, the other M-S seniors were Brianna DiFilippo, Sydney McKinney and Marin Minick.
