MSJHS wins Regional Championship

Charlotte Sinclair scored a team-high 13 points on Wednesday (Nov. 22) as the Mahomet-Seymour eighth-grade girls’ basketball team won an IESA Class 4A regional championship at home over Urbana, 36-28.
M-S built a 14-7 lead after one quarter.
Audra Martin tallied six points and Penelope Bird added five points for the Bulldogs.
Also reaching the scoring column for M-S were Kennedy Ashby (three points), Katie Hunter (three points), Marley Cloward (two points), Lily Freiman (two points) and Lilly Meyer (two points).
M-S (18-8) will face Crete-Monee in the sectional finals at M-S on Wednesday (Dec. 6).
The Bulldog seventh-graders (21-5) are also in the sectional finals and also play Crete-Monee on Wednesday (Nov. 29) at Kankakee Junior High.
Both M-S teams are one win away from qualifying for the state tournament.
