MSJHS track and field leaves Tuscola Invite with third place

Mahomet-Seymour’s seventh-grade boys’ track and field team had winners in three events on Saturday (April 23) at the Tuscola East Prairie Invitational.
Individually, Cody Moen earned top honors in the 1,600 meters (5:29.69) and teammate Brock Evans was victorious in the pole vault at 6 feet.
The Bulldogs’ 400-meter relay unit was also triumphant. The relay runners were Landon Busch, Evans, Garrett Waisath and Jonathan Franklin. Their collective time was 59.21 seconds.
Pearce Slocum was the runner-up in the pole vault (5 feet, 6 inches).
The seventh-graders took third in the eight-school event with 76 points.
Three M-S seventh-graders placed third and three others took fourth.
The third-place performers were Jack VanHoorn (800 meters in 2:45.89) and Evan Shuff (long jump at 13 feet,2 inches).
The 1,600-meter relay foursome of Waisath, William Bao, Busch and Aiden Banister were third in 4:46.61.
The fourth-place performers were Shuff (800 meters in 2:47.03), Tate Bode (1,600 meters in 5:49.86) and the 800-meter relay unit of Bao, Slocum, Jesiah Hall-Harpst and Banister. Their combined time was 2:05.47.
Franklin captured third in the shot put (30 feet, 9 inches), fifth in the discus (86 feet, 1 inch) and sixth in the 100 meters (14.34 seconds).
Other team-leaders for the seventh-graders were Jayvon Tompkins (fifth in the shot put at 28 feet, 11 inches), Cash Bryan (sixth in the 200 meter at 30.35 seconds), Evans (eighth in the 200 meters at 31.60), Kiptyn Fan (eighth in the 400 meters in 1:15.69), Dominic Gaudio (ninth in the 400 meters at 1:17.49) and Busch (10th in the 100 meters at 15.17 seconds).
The M-S eighth-graders also finished in third place as a team with 79 points.
Two Bulldogs were triumphant in their individual eighth-grade events.
Ethan Peterka won the 800 meters (2:17.18) and Auggie Gaudio took top honors in the 1,600 meters (5:00.22).
Two M-S relays registered runner-up finishes, including the 800-meter unit consisting of Emmett Kearns, Landen Dowers, Parker Wilkins and Wade Manuel. Their combined time was 1:45.77.
The 1,600-meter pairing of Wilkins, Jackson Davis, Kearns and Manuel were second in 4:02.20.
Five Bulldogs collected third-place finishes: Davis (pole vault at 7 feet), Jack Meyer (long jump at 15 feet, 5 inches), Henry McMurry (1,600 meters in 5:16.12), Keenan Olivera (shot put at 30 feet, 11 inches) and Camden Snodsmith (who tied for third in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches).
Other team leaders were Henry Carpenter (fourth in the 400 meters in 1:02.18), Olivera (fourth in the discus at 87 feet, 11 inches), Colin Jackson (fifth in the 100 meters in 12.72 seconds and fifth in the 200 meters in 26.43 seconds), Manuel (fifth in the long jump at 14 feet, 7 inches), Logan Maxson (fifth in the shot put at 28 feet, 3 inches), Devin Swisher (fifth in the discus at 81 feet, 7 inches), Elias Welch (eighth in the 400 meters in 1:17.74), Davis (ninth in the 100 meters in 13.60 seconds) and Keaton Daab (ninth in the 200 meters in 29.81 seconds).
