MSJHS Softball kicks off 2023 season

The Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School softball team is off to a slow start to the 2023 season, dropping three games in a six-day span that stretched through Tuesday (Aug. 8).
The Bulldogs opened the season on Thursday (Aug 3) and suffered a 15-0 loss at Monticello. The lone Bulldog baserunner was Kendal Schonauer, who drew a walk.
On Monday (Aug. 7), M-S lost its home-opener to Tolono Unity, 14-0. Joella Snodsmith’s single accounted for the lone M-S hit. Snodsmith also stole a base.
On Tuesday (Aug. 8), M-S took a 16-1 loss at Downs Tri-Valley. Snodsmith’s third-inning single drove in Kaisley Shotkoski with the Bulldogs’ run. Madisyn Morgan belted a double, the first M-S extra-base hit of the season.
Tri-Valley limited the Bulldogs to two hits.
Sharing the M-S pitching duties in the team’s first three games were Lauren Uebelhoer and Snodsmith. Uebelhoer struck out three Unity batters in her four-inning stint.
M-S (0-3) returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 10) at home against Champaign Franklin.
