MSJHS Softball defeats Champaign Franklin

Led by the batting exploits of Joella Snodsmith and Lena Ishcomer, the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High softball team snapped a three-game losing streak on Thursday (Aug. 10) in impressive fashion.
The Bulldogs overpowered Champaign Franklin, 25-10, at home.
For the day, M-S sent 37 batters to the plate and 31 reached base. The Bulldogs collected 12 hits, drew 12 walks and were hit by a pitch on seven occasions.
Snodsmith and Ishcomer each delivered three hits.
Snodsmith also stole three bases and scored three runs. Ishcomer tallied three runs and swiped two bases.
Hadley Carolan received four walks and scored four runs. Sierra Tuttle registered three runs scored along with three runs batted in. She totaled two hits as did Karsyn May-Ellis.
Kendal Schonauer crossed home plate four times. Lauren Uebelhoer scored three runs.
The lone extra-base hit was a triple by Mackenzie Bonham. Snodsmith, who reached base all five times she went to the plate (three times with hits and twice by walks), knocked in two runs as did Madisyn Morgan.
Snodsmith pitched the first 2 1/3 innings and recorded the victory. She produced a season-high eight strikeouts.
On Saturday (Aug. 12), M-S was outscored at home by Danville North Ridge,19-13.
Snodsmith and Pfeifer Manuel each produced two hits and scored three runs. Morgan and Bonham both drove in two runs.
Snodsmith stole three bases and Schonauer stole two bases.
Uebelhoer pitched a complete game and matched walks and strikeouts with three of each.
On Monday (Aug. 14), M-S suffered a 19-6 loss at home to St. Joseph.
Snodsmith was 2-for-2 with her first out-of-the-park home run, a solo blast. Ishcomer also delivered two hits. Kaisley Shotkoski scored two runs and knocked in two runs.
Uebelhoer struck out two batters in five innings.
M-S (1-5) returns to action on Wednesday (Aug. 16) at Champaign Jefferson.
