MSJHS picks up two state medals at IESA state meet

Mahomet-Seymour’s Auggie Gaudio and the 800-meter relay won state medals in the IESA boys’ eighth-grade state track and field meet, which ended on Saturday (May 21) at the east Side Centre, in East Peoria.
Gaudio ran fourth in the 1,600 meters. His time was 4 minutes, 46.68 seconds.
The 800-meter relay wound up in sixth place. Sharing the baton were Emmett Kearns, Parker Wilkins, Wade Manuel and Colin Jackson. Their cumulative time was 1:43.08.
The top eight in every state event earned medals.
Also competing at state were Ethan Peterka (10th in the 800 meters in 2:16.55) and Henry McMurry (14th in the 1,600 meters in 5:07.42).
M-S totaled 8 points at state and finished in a tie for 24th place. In all, 49 eighth-grade boys’ teams scored points at state.
