MSJHS has unbeaten record at Thanksgiving break

Both the seventh- and eighth-grade Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball teams enter the Thanksgiving break with 8-0 season records.

They achieved that mark on Monday (Nov. 20) with wins at home over Normal Chiddix.

The seventh-graders produced a 40-16 win. The eighth-graders were triumphant 45-20.

Jaxson Tiefenthaler made a season-high 15 points to lead the seventh-grade squad. He hit 5 of 6 free throws.

A.J. Fenelus and Nathan Stabler both tossed in eight points. Caleb Knox scored five points. Ending with two points apiece were Will Martin and Logan Rehberg.

The Bulldogs led, 30-4, at halftime.

Scoring honors for the eighth-graders were shared by Preston Clark and Jackson Golden, with 12 points apiece.

Clark nailed four three-point shots and has connected for 20 in his first eight games.

Camden Beedy totaled five points. Tristan Adams, Luke Buh and Colin Hammerschmidt all netted four points apiece. Konner Fisher and Bradley Jones finished with two points apiece.

M-S led, 16-4, after one quarter and 22-7 at halftime.

The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday (Nov. 28) at Champaign St. Matthew.
