MSJHS girls’ basketball seasons come to an end

Mahomet-Seymour’s bid by the seventh-grade girls’ basketball team fell one win short of qualifying for the state tournament.
In the IESA Class 4A sectional championship game at M-S on Wednesday (Nov. 30), the Bulldogs dropped a 38-18 decision to Mount Zion.
M-S trailed at halftime, 18-10.
Marley Cloward and Kennedy Ashby each netted six points to share the M-S scoring lead. Abi King chipped in with four points.
The seventh-graders finish the season with an 18-9 overall record.
A total of seven squad members led the team in scoring, or shared the team lead, at least once.
King (nine times) was the leader followed by Katie Hunter (six times), Cloward (five times), Ashby (four times), Lily Freiman (four times), Audra Martin (four times) and Penelope Bird (one time).
The top individual scoring performances were 16 points by Cloward, 15 points by King and 13 points by Bird.
The M-S eighth-grade squad closed their season with a record of 19-7.
The team’s top scoring games were 19 points by Hannah Martin, 16 points by Courtney Fonte and 15 points by Fonte.
