MSJHS girls’ basketball on 6 game win streak

Mahomet-Seymour’s seventh-grade girls’ basketball team extended its winning streak to six games after dispatching Bloomington 25-16 at home on Thursday (Sept. 21) and then adding road wins at St. Joseph 27-6 on Monday (Sept. 25) and at Charleston 42-5 on Tuesday (Sept. 26).
Kennedy Lee tossed in a game-high 14 points at St. Joseph. It was her third consecutive double-digit scoring game. Cambria Clark netted seven points.
Against Bloomington, Lee tallied 14 points and Phoebe Graham contributed six points.
M-S led at halftime, 15-5.
Against Charleston, Clark (13 points) and Lee (11 points) set the pace. Olivia Banister and Marlee Roberts each added four points.
M-S (6-1) led at halftime, 19-3.

The Bulldogs’ eighth-grade girls’ team also has a 6-1 record after defeating Bloomington 39-25, St. Joseph 39-16 and Charleston 35-10.
Penelope Bird was the leader at St. Joseph, netting 12 points. Kennedy Ashby hit 11 points and Audra Martin added eight points.
The Bulldogs led 14-3 after one quarter and 25-10 at halftime.
Against Bloomington, M-S trailed 9-7 after one quarter but surged into a halftime lead of 19-15.
Charlotte Sinclair recorded 10 points. Bird chipped in with nine points and Lily Freiman finished with eight points.
Against Charleston, Freiman became the fifth squad member to lead the team in scoring this season, notching eight points.
Marley Cloward and Ashby each added six points. Scoring four points each were Penelope Bird and Katie Hunter.
M-S led at halftime, 22-2.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (Sept. 28) at Effingham, the team’s third road game in four days.
