By Fred Kroner
Mahomet-Seymour pulled off two wins from its junior high girls’ basketball teams on Thursday (Sept. 22).
The seventh-graders edged Bloomington, 21-20, and the eighth-graders posted a 30-8 triumph.
The games were played in Bloomington.
M-S seventh-grader Penelope Bird tallied six of her team’s eight fourth-quarter points as the Bulldogs recovered late from a five-point deficit. Bird netted a team-high 13 points.
Hannah Martin knocked down eight points for the eighth-graders, who zipped into a 12-2 lead after one quarter and then started the second half on a 10-0 run.
Teammates Addison Schultz and Breckyn Hess each added six points.
Both M-S teams have 4-1 season records and return to action at home on Wednesday (Sept. 28) against Charleston. That game will mark the first of seven consecutive home contests.
