Wrestling season ended for Mahomet-Seymour on Tuesday night with a loss in the team-dual sectional at Taylorville High School.
The Bulldogs (14-8) dropped a 37-32 decision to Troy Triad, which secured a berth in the Class 2A Elite Eight this weekend in Bloomington.
Each school won seven matches, but the difference came down to bonus points.
Triad won six matches by pin. M-S had three pins and one technical fall victory.
Posting first-period pins for the Bulldogs were Chance Decker (138 pounds), Peyton Myers (145 pounds) and Seth Buchanan (285 pounds). Myers had the fastest fall (47 seconds).
Wyatt Heimann (170 pounds) earned a technical fall triumph.
Teammates with regular-decision victories were Braeden Heinold (120 pounds), Tyler Kittivanichkulkrai (160 pounds) and Daniel Renshaw (195 pounds).
Three seniors — Heimann, Kittivanichkulkrai and Daunte Roberts (182 pounds) were in the lineup for the season-ending meet.
Six of M-S’ eight dual-meet losses this season were by a margin where the team outcome would have been different had the Bulldogs won an additional match by pin.
