Matthew Prather, a student-athlete at Mahomet-Seymour High School, passed away in his home Thursday night. An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Prather was a punter and a kicker for the Mahomet-Seymour Football team, but was best known for his smile, dimples and warm personality.
MSHS Principal Shannon Cheek said all students will be notified during second hour when they return from spring break on Monday. He also said the school plans to have counselors available to students for as long as needed.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
