MSHS Speech places seventh at Heyworth Link Speech Tournament
The Mahomet-Seymour Speech Team capped off their regular competition season with a seventh-place finish among 18 schools competing at the Heyworth Link Speech Tournament on Jan. 28. Students receiving individual recognition included:
- Noora Kassem – Tournament Champion in Varsity Prose
- Samantha Johnson – 3rd place Varsity Radio
- Noora Kassem & Emmaline Culp – 4th place Varsity Dramatic Duet
- Allie McGregor & Ollie Blackman – 5th place Varsity Humorous Duet
- Eden Sanborn – 6th place Varsity Dramatic Interpretation
- Eden Sanborn – 7th place Varsity Oratorical Declamation
- Olivia Pfeifer – 2nd place JV Prose
- Allie McGregor – 3rd place JV Humorous Interpretation
- Alexus Brown – 5th place JV Impromptu
- Kiersten Williamson – 5th place JV Extemporaneous
- Cecilia Vermillion – 5th place JV Informative
The team will compete in the IHSA state series beginning Feb. 4 at the Regional tournament in Chatham IL. Students are also preparing for a Speech Showcase at the MSHS Auditorium on Monday, February 13 beginning at 5:30pm. The public is welcome to attend.
