MSHS Boys’ Basketball remains unbeaten in Apollo Conference, Swim team competes in Charger Invite

MSHS Boys’ Basketball

Noah Benedict made 8 of 10 shots from the field as Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team maintained its unbeaten record in Apollo Conference action.
The Bulldogs recovered from a first-quarter deficit to post a 56-42 win at Mattoon.
M-S is 13-4 overall and 6-0 in Apollo games. Mattoon is 10-7.
The Bulldogs trailed 10-6 after one quarter of Tuesday night’s game.
Noah Benedict was one of three Bulldogs to score in double figures.
Holt Campion and Cory Noe each tallied 12 points. Benedict, Campion and Brooks Coetzee shared the team rebounding lead with four apiece. Benedict and Coetzee each had four assists.
The next game for M-S is a Friday home game against Effingham.
MSHS Boys’ Swimming
The Mahomet Boys Swim Team faced their biggest challenge of the season this past Saturday, competing with 12 other teams from across the state at the Charger Invite.

Diver Dalton DeMay led the Aquadogs with a sixth-place finish in the diving competition, scoring a personal best 284.8 points for 11 dives.

Individual competitors that scored points for the team included senior Dante Waters (8th in the 100 free, and 13th in the 100 backstroke), sophomore William Larson (10th in the 100 IM, and 16th in the 100 butterfly), and junior Gavin Groff (15th in 200 free)

The 200 Free Relay (Larson, Groff, Antonncci, Herriott) finished 9th, the 400 Free Relay (Herriott, Williams, Groff, Waters) finished 12th, and the 200 Medley Relay (Waters, Schable, Larson, Herriott) finished 13th.

The Bulldogs compete at Centennial again next Saturday in a meet against Centennial and Metamora.
