Mount Zion outlasts Mahomet-Seymour girls basketball

Savannah Orgeron scored 20 points and Kylie Waldinger sparked a fourth-quarter comeback bid that saw the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team fall just short at home against Mount Zion, 51-48, on Monday (Jan. 24).
Waldinger hit eight of her 10 points in the last quarter as the Bulldogs cut into a deficit that was at 40-29 with eight minutes remaining.
Reese Gallier nailed six points and Durbin Thomas recorded five points for M-S.
Orgeron pulled down five rebounds. Capturing three rebounds apiece were Abby Bunting, Thomas and Waldinger.
Emma Dallas, Orgeron and Thomas all finished with two steals.
The Bulldogs have dropped two decisions to Mount Zion this season, by margins of five and three points.
M-S (18-7) returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 26) at home against Charleston.
