Mills to become principal of Mahomet-Seymour Junior High

The Mahomet-Seymour School board voted unanimously to hire Nathan Mills as the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High Principal on March 12.

Mills has been employed with the Mahomet-Seymour Schools since 2003, when he started as a vocational/career education teacher at Mahomet-Seymour High School.   In 2011, he became an assistant principal at MSHS, a position he has held since that time.

He has also coached various sports, including serving as the coach of the 2010 IHSA 2A State Championship Boys Golf Team.   Mill has earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University in 2003, and he also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from EIU, earning that degree in 2006.   

The Board of Education is thrilled to be able to hire Mr. Nathan Mills as the new principal of Mahomet-Seymour Jr. High School,” said Max McComb, president of the Board of Education. “Nathan brings with him a proven record of leadership and integrity and will be an outstanding leader for our sixth through eighth-grade students and our staff.”

Mr. Mills and his family reside in Mahomet.  His wife Tecia, is a fourth-grade teacher at Lincoln Trail Elementary.  He replaces Heather Landrus, who resigned her position effective June 30, 2018.  

Mills will finish out his contract as Mahomet-Seymour High School Assistant Principal for the 2018-2019 school year. He will begin work as principal of MSJHS on July 1, 2018. He will make $97,000 for the 2019-2020 school year.
