Michelle Rolley opens Healthy Minds Counseling in Sangamon on Main
It’s not always easy to find someone to talk to.
Michelle Rolley knows this.
“I became interested in psychology in my teen years when I had witnessed individuals close to my family who were impacted with mental health concerns,” Rolley said. “I became keenly aware of the difficulty of finding appropriate resources to provide meaningful assistance.
“Individuals and families were often at a loss on where to turn for help—even though they recognized and were willing to talk about their need.”
With a desire to be a therapist who could offer experienced, ethical, and passionate mental health services, Rolley graduated from Illinois State University in 1996, and hit the ground running.
Now, 25 years later, the time to open her own practice, Healthy Minds Counseling PLLC came to fruition in June of 2021.
“Making a recognizable difference in the lives of those who are struggling is always my goal, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to see that happen in my practice,” she said. “I have been honored to meet so many courageous people from different walks of life and have walked alongside them in their journeys to wellness. I value that each day is new, interesting, and unique, and I consider myself very fortunate to enjoy a meaningful and rewarding career.”
Serving individuals and couples 17-year and up, Rolley focuses on areas of anxiety, trauma and PTSD, grief and loss, ADD/ADHD, marital/relationship concerns, self-esteem issues, and strengthening brain health. She specializes in EMDR (a leading research-based approach for PTSD and anxiety) and the Gottman Method for couples and is also a certified Brain Health Coach through the world-renowned Amen Clinic, offering a unique perspective on optimizing brain health.
“I also enjoy working with parents who are struggling with navigating the parenting journey. My husband and I have 4 children, from 14-20 years old, and I am often able to directly relate to the many challenges they experience,” she said.
Located at 601 East Main Street, Suite 201 in Mahomet, Rolley is accepting new clients with day and evening hours Tues., Thurs., Friday and some Saturday mornings. She accepts BCBS of Illinois, Health Alliance, Optum, and most Out of Network insurances, and is also willing to provide a faith-based perspective to those who are interested.
“Counseling can offer people an opportunity to invest in understanding themselves, their struggles, and their patterns more clearly,” she said. “The therapeutic relationship is developed in a safe, comfortable, and confidential space where areas of concern can be shared without judgement. Just as a yearly check-up is beneficial for physical health, counseling can offer an opportunity to check in with a trained professional to strengthen emotional health. Counseling also assists people in developing various strategies and tools to cope with life’s struggles. Many find these skills and tools can be drawn upon throughout life, even after counseling has ended.”
