Max Young’s Pitching Leads Mahomet-Seymour to Victory in IHSA Class 3A Regional Semifinal

Sophomore Max Young pitched a complete-game four-hitter on Wednesday (May 22) as the Mahomet-Seymour baseball team opened the IHSA postseason series at home with a 6-2 Class 3A regional semifinal victory over Danville.
In seven innings, Young walked no one and struck out eight. He permitted one earned run.
Cade Starrick jump-started the offense, going 3-for-3. Tyson Finch collected two hits. Noah Butler knocked in two runs.
Also contributing an RBI were Gavin Bailey and Finn Randolph.
Other Bulldogs with hits besides Starrick, Tyson and Finch were Camden Heinold, Randolph, Nolan Johnson, Mason Orton and Butler.
On Monday (May 20), the Bulldogs dropped a 3-0 decision at Chatham Glenwood in their regular-season finale.
Both Bailey and Raymond Long collected two hits for M-S. Teammates with one hit were Randolph, Johnson and Matthew Orr.
Alec Bergman worked the first 3 2/3 innings and suffered the loss. He walked three and struck out two.
Orton threw the last 2 1/3 innings. He walked two and fanned six.
M-S (25-8) returns to action at home on Saturday (May 25) at 11 a.m. against either Bloomington or Rantoul in the regional championship contest. The Bulldogs did not play either of their possible opponents during the regular season.
