Mattoon tops Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball

Mahomet-Seymour’s short-handed Bulldogs (minus three players who have started or played significant minutes) suffered a 55-45 Apollo Conference boys’ basketball loss at Mattoon on Thursday (Jan. 13).
Blake Wolters made a team-high 13 points and grabbed six rebounds. He also had three assists.
Jake Waldinger tallied a season-high 11 points, bagging three three-pointers. He also had three assists.
“Waldinger gave us solid minutes off the bench and has continued to start growing into his role for us,” M-S coach Ryan Bosch said.
Carter Selk contributed nine points while Ben Wagner ended with seven points, six rebounds and three assists.
Dayten Eisenmann led the Bulldogs with seven rebounds. Adam Dyer handed out three assists.
“The guys fought and grinded; getting down to a four-point game with about a 1:30 left, but we just did not have it in us tonight,” Bosch said.
M-S (8-10) returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 18) at home against Washington.
