Martin appointed as Principal of Middletown Prairie
The Board of Education of Mahomet-Seymour announced Friday that they will appointment Ryan Martin as principal of Middletown Prairie Elementary School starting July 1, 2019.
Martin will replace Mrs. Wendy Starwalt, who resigned earlier this month.
Martin was hired as Assistant Principal of Middletown Prairie Elementary in 2018.
Prior to that, he taught elementary school for 17 years. He served as a fourth grade teacher at Leal Elementary in the Urbana #116 School District, and co-directed that school’s SPLASH program.
Prior to being employed in the Urbana Schools, Mr. Martin spent one year in the Gibson City Melvin Sibley Schools and three years in Oak Park District 97. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (2001) and a Master’s degree in Educational Organizational Leadership (2008), earning both degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign.
“The Mahomet-Seymour Board of Education is thrilled that Ryan Martin has accepted the position of Principal at Middletown Prairie Elementary,” said Board President Max McComb. “Mr. Martin has been a tremendous educator, coach, and, for the past year, administrator. Our community knows him well and holds him in high regard. We could not be more excited about moving forward at MPE under his leadership.”
The Mahomet-Seymour School board will formally appoint Martin at the April 15 Board of Education meeting.
