Martin and Fonte to play in All-State Classic girls’ basketball tournament

Two Mahomet-Seymour eighth-graders have been selected to play in the fifth-annual All-State Classic girls’ basketball tournament.
The 12-team event will take place on Sunday (Dec. 18) at Dunlap.
The Bulldog representatives are 5-foot-9 forward Hannah Martin and 5-foot-5 guard Courtney Fonte.
Fonte was the top scorer for the 19-7 Bulldogs this season in 13 games. Martin led in 10 games.
Martin had a high game of 19 points against Champaign Edison. Fonte’s top performance was 16 points against Champaign Franklin.
They are members of the 11-player East team, coached by Danville’s Kris Bell.
Each of the 12 teams are guaranteed of playing three games in pool play competition. The top teams in each of the pools will qualify for the semifinals.
