Martin and Bird win seventh consecutive match

Mahomet-Seymour’s unbeaten doubles duo of Holland Martin and Adella Bird won their seventh consecutive match on Saturday (Sept. 23) to highlight the Bulldogs 6-1 dual-meet victory in a girls’ tennis match at Lincoln.
Martin and Bird topped Sarai Jackson and Ines Otero, 8-1.
The Bulldogs also won the No. 1 doubles match as Savannah Amatyleon and Emily Young extended their winning streak to four with an 8-3 triumph.
In singles, Bird won at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), Martin won at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0), Young won at No. 4 (6-1, 6-2) and Claire Johnson won at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0).
At No. 1 singles, Amatyleon dropped a hard-fought 4-6, 6-4,10-5 decision.
Martin has a 6-1 singles record. In five of her wins, she has won at least one set against an opponent without losing a game. Young is also 6-1 in singles.
M-S (6-1) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 26) at home against Charleston at the Middletown Courts.
