Manhunt underway in Mahomet, Officer shot has been released from hospital
The Mahomet Police Department and METRO swat team are looking for Dracy “Clint” Pendleton near the Riverbend Forest Preserve this morning.
The 34-year old 5’10 man with blonde hair and blue eyes, was stopped for a minor traffic violation at 11 p.m. Saturday night. After being released with warnings, the suspect encountered another Mahomet officer in the 600 block of Vine Street. The suspect and officer became involved in a physical confrontation before the suspect produced a handgun and shot the officer.
The officer returned fire. The suspect fled into a residence and retrieved a rifle and fired more round before fleeing in a pick-up truck.
The suspect’s truck was located near the Riverbend Forest Preserve. The METRO Swat team has looked for Pendleton all night. He is believed to be injured and heavily armed.
The Mahomet Police Department advises anyone to not approach the suspect but to call 911, if seen.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and has been released.
