Mahomet Specialty Clinic to provide specialty care in the Mahomet area
Gibson Area Hospital’s newest branch, the Mahomet Specialty Clinic, opened its doors at 1504 Patton Drive last week.
Bringing specialties such as orthopedics, plastic surgery and sports medicine to a convenient location was a focus of Gibson City Hospital as they serve 57 area codes.
“At least if we are here, our patients can come by interstate,” said Advanced Practice Nurse Laura Brinkley. “That makes the trip so much quicker than a two lane road.”
Brinkley, Dr. Chris Dangles, Dr. Joe Norris, Kyle Eichelberger and David Freeman will work with orthopedic and sports medicine patients.
With over 38 years of orthopedic training, Dangles focuses on knee and hip replacement. He also runs a clinic in Bloomington and at the Gibson City Hospital. Dangles is at the Mahomet Specialty Clinic on Friday.
Only 10 minutes from his home, he hopes to make the Mahomet practice his main office as his clientele iin this area grows.
“For me, this is the best office I’ve ever worked in,” he said.
Recognizing the difficulty of scheduling sports physicals, the Mahomet Specialty Clinic will also provide physicals, sport injury care and x-rays at the Mahomet Clinic.
Brinkley said access to x-rays in Mahomet will also provide convenience for patients throughout Central Illinois.
“We’re trying to draw from different communities, too,” she said.
Operating on a soft opening schedule, the Mahomet Specialty Clinic is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. for scheduled appointments. As the school year approaches, the clinic hopes to extend their hours into the evening to see athletes looking for a physical.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Chad Tattini of Gibson Area Hospital Cosmetics will join the team in the Mahomet location on July 11.
The Mahomet Specialty Clinic joined the Mahomet Chamber of Commerce, and hopes to become a part of the community as they grow.
“We are more than willing to do whatever we can to be a part of the community,” Brinkley said. “We’re not just going to come and work, then leave.”
The Mahomet Specialty Clinic plans to host a public open house sometime this summer. Curves will also join the festivities.
