Mahomet-Seymour wins four events at Metamora ABC meet

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ track and field team competed in the Metamora ABC meet on Friday (April 22).
The 12-school meet has three categories in each event, a Class A division, a Class B division and a Class C division.
In Class A events, M-S placed ninth with 38 points. In Class B competition, M-S was third with 39 ½ points. In Class C events, the Bulldogs were fourth with 24 points.
M-S athletes were victorious in four events.
In the Class A 3,200 meters, Kyle Nofziger was the winner in 10 minutes,18.67 seconds.
In the Class C 3,200 meters, Benjamin Wallace was first in 10:57.64.
Dayten Eisenmann won the Class C 300-meter hurdles (46.03 seconds) and Gabe Labbe was triumphant in the Class B triple jump (40 feet, 1 inch).
Other individual placers for the Bulldogs in Class A events were: Nick Golden (sixth in the 200 meters, 24.37 seconds), Nolan Nierenhausen (fourth in the 300 hurdles in 46.07 seconds), Robert Byron (fourth in the discus, 145 feet, 3 inches, and 12th in the shot put, 38 feet, 6 inches), Eisenmann (sixth in the high jump, 5 feet, 3 inches), Cole Marshall (fifth in the triple jump, 40 feet, 2 inches), Labbe (fourth in the long jump, 18 feet, 9 inches) and Thomas Carpenter (third in the pole vault, 10 feet, 4 inches).
In Class B events, Marshall placed in two events. He was fourth in the long jump (18 feet, 9 inches) and fifth in the 200 meters (24.31 seconds).
Also placing in two individual Class B events was Caleb Boykin. He finished 10th in both the shot put (35 feet, 4 inches) and the discus (103 feet, 5 inches).
Other Bulldog leaders in Class B events were Hayden Grotelueschen (second in the 3,200 meters in 10:35.50), Karsten Waisath (third in the 1,600 meters in 4:56.97), Eisenmann (fourth in the 110-meter hurdles,18.17 seconds), Travis Hoffman (fourth in the pole vault at 8 feet, 5 inches), Bryton Perkins (fourth in the high jump at 5 feet, 3 inches), Ian Dobrucki (fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 46.13 seconds), Erik Christianson (fifth in the 100 meters in 11.82 seconds) and Taylor Fan (seventh in the 800 meters in 2:16.87).
Three Bulldogs were the runner-up in their Class C individual events: John Tender (800 meters in 2:17.40), Seth Christiansen (pole vault at 9 feet, 5 inches) and Ellis Tira (long jump at 18 feet, 5 inches).
Other top Bulldogs in Class C events were: Vincent Kim (sixth in 100 meters in 12.57 seconds), Ryken Kirby (sixth in 200 meters in 25.54 seconds), Avery Seaman (seventh in 1,600 meters in 5:19.51) and Kyle Walmer (10th in the shot put at 33 feet, 4 inches).
Four M-S varsity relays finished among the top seven in Class A, led by the third-place 400-meter unit of Marshall, Deangelo Hughey, Golden and Quenton Rogers. Their time was 44.64 seconds.
The 3,200 relay of Jonah Singer, Joseph Scheele, Blake Dillman and Mitchell McAnally was fifth in 9:09.79.
The varsity 1,600-relay foursome of Tyler Lewis, Hughey, Singer and Dillman took sixth in 3:41.24.
Bulldogs Jayvon Irwin, Hughey, Golden and Lewis were timed in 1:40.77 in the 800-meter relay and ended in seventh place.
In Class B competition, all four M-S relay entries were among the top five in their races.
Finishing second was the 400-meter foursome of Irwin, Christianson, Kim and Lewis. Their collective time was 46.72 seconds.
Placing third were Bulldog teammates Kirby, Christianson, Kim and Hoffman. Their time in the 800-meter relay was 1:38.27.
Running fourth was the 3,200-meter contingent of Grant Smysor, Lukas Nykaza, Lukas Carey and Ethan Ramirez. They stopped the clock in 9:27.61.
Ending in fifth place was the 1,600-meter foursome of Nierenhausen, Nofziger, Fan and Tender. Their combined time was 3:58.61.
On Saturday (April 23), the Bulldogs competed in a 10-school freshmen-sophomore meet at Monticello.
In the division for freshmen only, M-S accrued 50 points to win the meet. In sophomore-only events, the Bulldogs were fifth with 20 points. In a combined division for freshmen and sophomores, M-S captured fourth place with 32 points.
Two of the Bulldogs’ freshmen-sophomore relays were victorious.
The 400-meter unit of Jayvon Irwin, Deangelo Hughey, Alex O’Brian and Travis Hoffman stopped the clock in 46.38 seconds.
Also posting a winning time was the 1,600-meter relay foursome of Hughey, Kaden Jackson, Blake Dillman and Josh Franklin. Their combined time was 3:46.88.
Four other Bulldogs scored points in the freshmen-sophomore division.
Lukas Nykaza was fourth in the 3,200 meters (11:35.61), Bryton Perkins was fourth in the high jump (5 feet, 3 inches), Travis Hoffman was fourth in the pole vault (9 feet) and Quinten Goodie was eighth in the triple jump (27 feet, 7 inches).
Three M-S athletes earned wins in the events for freshmen only.
Dillman took the 800 meters (2:10.97), Ethan Ramirez captured the 1,600 meters (5:19.47) and Ian Dobrucki won the 110-meter hurdles (18.58).
Also in the 1,600, Kaleb Kasper placed seventh (5:42.46).
Franklin earned points in two events. He was the runner-up in the 400 meters (55.24 seconds) and wound up in sixth place in the discus (90 feet, 5 inches).
The Bulldogs had a second placer in both the 400 meters and the 110-meter hurdles.
Jackson ran third in the 400 meters (55.79) and Gavin Hammerschmidt finished sixth in the sprint hurdles (21.50 seconds).
The other freshmen Bulldog point-makers were Lars Kellner (sixth in the 100 meters in 12.39 seconds), Dylan Smith (fifth in the 200 meters in 27.49 seconds) and Austin Crull (sixth in the shot put at 29 feet, 8 inches).
Grant Smysor was the top M-S placer in events for sophomores. He ran second in the 1,600 meters (5:17.30) and also took fifth in the 800 meters (2:19.66).
Jaxon Themanson was third in the 110-meter hurdles (20.82) and Ryken Kirby took fifth in the 100 meters (11.91). Kirby edged out teammate Luke Johnson who was sixth in the 100 meters (11.94).
Dobrucki wound up in sixth place in the 400 meters (1:00.46).
M-S had double placers in the discus. Crull was seventh (78 feet,1 inch) and Deandre Hughey was eighth (74 feet, 4 inches).
Colin Johnson was seventh in the 1,600 meters (6:01.44), Lukas Carey was eighth in the 800 meters (2:32.40) and Brock Kellenberger was eighth in the 200 meters (28.59 seconds).
M-S returns to action on Tuesday (April 26) at the Pontiac Relays.
