Mahomet-Seymour wins final road game of 2022 season

Both of the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School girls’ basketball teams posted wins on Monday (Nov. 14) in their final road games of the regular season.
The M-S eighth-graders (17-6) registered a 37-6 win at Champaign St. Matthew in a game it led, 16-2, at halftime.
Breckyn Hess tossed in a team-high eight points. Hannah Martin notched six points. Teammates Olivia Cox and Courtney Fonte each contributed five points.
The Bulldog seventh-graders topped St. Matthew, 26-13, behind a 12-point outburst from Abi King. Kennedy Ashby and Marley Cloward each netted five points.
M-S expanded a three-point halftime lead by scoring all 10 points in the third quarter.
Both M-S teams play their home-finale on Thursday (Nov. 17) against St. Joseph. The seventh-graders turn around and open postseason play at home on Saturday (Nov. 19) as the No. 1 regional seed.
The Bulldogs will play a 1 p.m. semifinal game against the winner of a game between fourth-seeded Edison and fifth-seeded Urbana.
