Mahomet-Seymour wins Class 2A soccer regional championship

Paislee Welge and Emma Dallas each scored two goals on Saturday (May 20) as Mahomet-Seymour won an IHSA girls’ Class 2A soccer regional championship for the second year in a row and for the sixth time in the past eight years.
Abby Bunting, who also had an assist, notched the Bulldogs’ other goal. Welge also had an assist as did Brielle Galvan.
M-S led, 3-0, at intermission, putting the first three goals on the board in a stretch of 17 minutes and 44 seconds at Middletown Field.
The shutout was the ninth of the season for M-S.
The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday (May 23) at Normal West in a sectional semifinal contest against Chatham Glenwood, which won its regional crown with a 4-1 decision over Springfield.
M-S and Chatham Glenwood did not play each other in the regular season.
