Mahomet-Seymour wins Bulldog Invitational

Mahomet-Seymour’s eighth-grade girls’ basketball team captured the title in its own four-team round-robin tournament on Friday (Oct. 7), handing Tolono Unity a 41-16 loss.
Courtney Fonte and Hannah Martin each netted eight points to lead the Bulldogs. Payton Steers added a season-high seven points.
M-S continued its winning ways on Tuesday (Oct. 11), topping Urbana, 19-7. Breckyn Hess led the way with eight points and Martin chipped in with seven points.
The eighth-graders (9-2) have a four-game winning streak and return to action on Wednesday (Oct. 12) at home against Champaign Edison before embarking on a three-game road trip next week.
The seventh-graders (also 9-2) also play Edison on Wednesday (Oct. 12).
The seventh-graders boast a two-game winning streak, topping Tolono Unity 21-6 and following up with a decisive 31-13 verdict over Urbana.
Katie Hunter’s eight points were a team-best against Urbana. Abi King contributed five points.
