Mahomet-Seymour Volleyball Sets New School Record with 33rd Win, Advances to Regional Championship
By FRED KRONER
Mahomet-Seymour’s volleyball team registered a school-record win on Tuesday (Oct. 29) in an IHSA Class 3A regional semifinal tournament match at Champaign Central.
The Bulldogs took down Urbana, 25-12, 25-5, to advance into the regional championship match while also breaking the school standard for wins in a season.
The triumph over Urbana (5-17) was win No. 33 for M-S. During the past four seasons, the Bulldogs have a cumulative record of 127-18, with not fewer than 31 wins in any of those seasons.
The previous single-season wins record was 32 set in 2022.
Ellie Dallas collected 11 assists and Lily Bosworth swatted eight kills against Urbana, an opponent the Bulldogs also swept in a regular-season match.
M-S (33-3) returns to action at Central on Thursday (Oct. 31) at 6 p.m. in the regional finals against the host Maroons (24-12).
M-S and Central split two regular-season matches. Central won in three sets at M-S and the Bulldogs prevailed in three sets in a tournament at Centennial three days later in early September.
The Bulldogs are seeking their first volleyball regional crown since 2019.
