Mahomet-Seymour Volleyball rallies in final sets to defeat Mount Zion

It was a case of déjà vu on Thursday (April 8) when Mahomet-Seymour played host to Mount Zion in an Apollo Conference volleyball match.
When the rivals played in the season-opener, Mount Zion won the first set before M-S rallied to win the final two sets.
In the rematch, Mount Zion won the first set before M-S rallied to win the final two sets.
The scores were 23-25, 25-7, 25-17 and extended the Bulldogs’ winning streak to seven matches.
Juniors Haylie Orton (eight kills) and Sophie Zerruoki (seven kills) paced the offense.
Defensively, senior Josie Hess led the way with 21 digs.
Orton also was in on 4 ½ blocks and served an ace.
On Saturday (April 10), the Bulldogs swept Mattoon for the second time in five days, 25-15, 25-18.
Caylee Folken collected 12 assists while Hess was again in double figures with 10 digs. She also had an ace.
M-S (10-2) returns to action on Tuesday (April 13) at Taylorville. The Bulldogs are 10-0 in Apollo Conference matches and 4-0 away from home this season.
In junior varsity action, M-S topped Mount Zion 25-16, 23-25, 15-9, and handled Mattoon, 25-17, 25-23.
