Mahomet-Seymour volleyball places third at Jacksonville Invitational

Mahomet-Seymour won three of four volleyball matches on Saturday (Sept. 10) and placed third in the Jacksonville Invitational.
The Bulldogs started out with wins against Peoria Richwoods (25-13, 25-18) and Jacksonville Routt (25-12, 25-8) before losing in the semifinals to Rochester (25-22, 25-22).
M-S topped Washington in the third-place match, 25-16, 25-16.
Avery Allen pounded 33 kills in the four tourney matches to go with 20 digs and eight service aces. Caylee Folken recorded 35 assists, 16 digs and eight aces.
On Thursday (Sept. 8), Libby Bodine had eight digs and one service ace as Mahomet-Seymour registered an Apollo Conference volleyball victory at Mount Zion, 25-15, 26-24. Allen totaled four kills, three digs, two blocks and one ace.
M-S won the junior varsity match 25-14, 25-17, but suffered a loss in the freshmen match, 19-21, 24-22, 15-9.
M-S (12-2) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 13) at home against Taylorville. The Bulldogs are 3-0 in Apollo Conference action.
